Weathered Wood Bud Vase. I have been working with a couple of fence posts that I found lying on the ground at the site of an old homestead. The wood is Douglas fir, and why anyone would bother to make a fence post from Doug fir I can't begin to guess. The other surprise for me is how well it turns--not usually a characteristic of this species. I love the texture of the weathered wood and the way it contrasts with the freshly cut surface.

This vase has a small glass test tube in the top so you can put a few flower stems in water. You can see one of the old fence staples protruding from the side (I filed it smooth). Definitely a conversation starter.

5 1/2" tall x 3" x 4".  Sold.
