"Lookout Platter." Inspired by the arrival of Washington's first wild wolf pack in 70 years, I thought a piece of art to commemorate the event was in order. The platter is maple, wolves outlined using pyrography, then ink used to color the rim.

We cannot find a peaceful coexistence with the large predators. It is the conflict between human needs and the needs of these animals that leads some men to resolve the tension with a gun or trap or poison. In the Methow we have a rare opportunity to find a truce with these magnificent creatures and make room for a parallel existence. In this decision and behavior is the highest expression of human intelligence.

About 2" tall x 15" diameter. $525. Available from the Winthrop Gallery.
