Platter/Cutting Board. Made from maple and an unidentified tropical hardwood. This photo shows the platter to be a shade of red that it is not--the maple is white with brown tones. The highlight strip is rendered pretty accurately here as brownish-red. There is a lip around the edge of the platter and the interior of the platter is about 3/16" lower than the lip.

I turn my cutting boards and shallow platters with a groove around the side of the board so that you can easily pick the piece up from a flat surface without having to slip your fingernails under the bottom or push the whole thing off onto the floor. 3/4" thick x 13 1/8" diameter.
