Apple and Bloodwood Bowl
. In 2007 I brought home a load of apple from Wenatchee, the bumper of my truck nearly dragging the pavement. The challenge with fruit wood is keeping it from splitting itself into firewood during the drying process. I rough turned this large blank and set it aside to dry, only to watch it split as it dried. I set it aside for a couple of years, unable to make myself toss the bowl into the wood stove. Finally, it occurred to me to bridge the split with a decorative piece of bloodwood. The bowl blank is now stabilized, but will never be a soup-serving bowl. This would make a great decorative piece, or a unique fruit or nut bowl.About 4" tall x 14" diameter. $225.
