Poplar Bowl. With the help of my father I cut two bowl blanks from an enormous poplar crotch in Virginia. Unfortunately, I lost one of the blanks to checking while trying to work it in the desert of Nevada. But I learned from the experience and rescued this bowl from the second blank. Poplar can have a wonderful range of colors, from white through yellow to purple, all present in this piece. The second photo shows the crotch figure in detail.
