Spalted Maple Platter. A friend living in Bellingham came across a thoroughly spalted piece of big leaf maple and thought of me. It was such an oddly shaped piece of wood that it took me a long time to figure out what to do with it. Although small, it looks like I'll rescue two finished pieces from the scrap, which, after seeing the finish flow across this piece, is a good thing. Gorgeous wood! This is a simple form, but shows off the wood quite nicely.
